About Good Game

On December 4th of 2003, after years of playing on servers where cheating and ignorance run rampant, a man (SonOfSam) and a woman (Kristanight) came together with one goal in mind. That goal was to create a community of gamers who shared the dream of a better gaming environment (and to do the nasty). On that cold December night, GGKTHNX was born. Shunning the hackers, the racists, the porn sprayers and all other enemies of hassle-free servers, they embarked on a journey of headshots and knife fights. The community, like life itself, has had good times as well as bad, but will always continue to make the game as drama-free as possible. The clan as a whole does not compete in tournaments or clan matches, as our focus is not on competition, but quality of gaming.

In the beginning the clan enjoyed countless hours of CS 1.6 and eventually morphed into strictly a Source clan. These days the GG clan servers are dedicated to GunGame, a fast-paced mod that most seem to enjoy. Custom maps are used for GunGame to add a little different flavor. There are also a few member created maps in the rotation to showcase all of the talent within GG. Recently due to the expansion of the clan, new leaders and members have been added to help with the upkeep of the site and servers.

The forums are a large part of this community and we are dedicated to making it as enjoyable as possible. They allow GG members as well as people interested in the clan to post just about anything they want. Personal news, movies, pictures, and articles all make the forums a must visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join GG?
We are an invite only clan. Please do not ask for a try out as skill is not important to us. We base all recruitment on a few simple ideals. We look for mature, friendly, and fun people to join. It takes time for us to get to know you, so dont expect to be invited overnight.

Feel free to make it known to the leaders that you wish to join, but do not harass them about it. Constantly asking to join will cause your request to be ignored. The more you ask us, the less of a chance you have in being recruited.

Recruitment based on:

1. Attitude(maturity, friendlyness, and sportsmenship)
2. Active player on server.
3. Active member in the community (Forums and IRC).

A 2 week recruitment period is also required before coming a full member. During that 2 weeks you will be watched carefully to decide if you fit the GG quality. Being a recruit does not guarantee membership or admin to servers.

Only past admin are exempt to recruitment and can be grandfathered in.

Also, please take the time to make a post in this section about yourself. The more you tell, the better we can get to know you.

Please keep all requests in that section of the forum. Also do not ask for a status on your recruitment. Since we are invite only we will let you know if we do decide to recruit.

Purpose of the recruit section is merely to know who is interested in joining. It does not guarantee recruitment.

Is GG in any leagues or scrim?
No at this time we are not in any leagues. We are mainly a fun clan. This may change in the near future as our clan is growing and interest has come up about scrims/leagues.

Some GG members may scrim, but will only play with mature friendly clans. We are not out to prove anything, nor care about any bragging rights. Those who scrim bascially only are there for enjoyment. If you wish to have a friendly scrim post on the forums so it can be arranged.

What is the "Code of Honor"?
(1) - I will not use cheats nor encourage their use by others. If I suspect someone of using a cheat, I will seek out an administrator of the server I am on and report my suspicions to them. Under no circumstances will I verbally assault the suspected cheater or in any other way disrupt play. If no admin is available, I will find another server on which to play.

(2) - I will not take advantage of bugs nor encourage others to do so. If I suspect someone of abusing a bug, I will seek out an administrator of the server I am on and report my suspicions to them. Under no circumstances will I verbally assault the suspected bug user or in any other way disrupt play. If no admin is available, I will find another server on which to play.

(3) - I will at no time act in a rude or disruptive manner. If I observe such behaviour online, I may comment on it briefly in the hopes that the offender will cease, but if that fails, I will seek out an administrator of the server I am on and report my suspicions to them. Under no circumstances will I verbally assault the disruptive player or in any other way disrupt play. If no admin is available, I will find another server on which to play. Further, I will not under ANY circumstances consciously team-kill another player, no matter the provocation. Finally, I will be especially helpful to newbies. I was a newbie once, and asked all the same questions and made many of the same mistakes.

(4) - I will not engage in racist behaviour, use racist names, or make racist comments. If I observe such behaviour online, I may comment on it briefly in the hopes that the offender will cease, but if that fails, I will seek out an administrator of the server I am on and report my suspicions to them. Under no circumstances will I verbally assault the disruptive player or in any other way disrupt play. If no admin is available, I will find another server on which to play.

(5) - I will strive to participate and encourage team play. I will make use of, and encourage the use of by others, the many tools provided within Counter Strike to make this possible. Wherever possible, I will encourage the active use of team tactics.

(6) - I will lead by example. In playing honourably I represent not only myself, but also GGKTHNX; in behaving dishonourably I dishonour not only myself, but GGKTHNX as well. I will strive to provide the players around me with a better game and promote an honourable style of play.

What does GGKTHNX mean?
Its just short for something heard in the game, meaning good game ok thanks. Over time we have just shorten it to just GG or Good Game.

Can I buy admin?
No, as much as we love donations it doesn&t mean you will get admin. Admin is solely given to GG members. With almost 50 members we feel that is enough admin to cover the servers. Please still feel free to donate if you wish to support the community.

How do I donate?
Keeping up with server and hosting payments can add up every month. Monetary donations of any amount are a great help and are appreciated. All proceeds from any donations are utilized exclusively for the ongoing maintenance of site and server.

Donations can be made using paypal, or address can be given out upon request if you wish to send in the mail.

Banned?
1. Before posting, make sure to read our rules to see if possibly you may have broken one of our rules: Click to read

2. If you feel you were wrongly banned or kicked from the server please note that any request must be made in a civil manner or they will be ignored and you will stay banned. Insulting members/admin will not help you at all. Being friendly goes a long way.

3. Do not demand to be unbanned. Playing here is not a right but a privilege.

4. Provide information that will help us determine the cause of being banned/kicked. Such as your player name, steamid, time of the banning, and what GG/iH members that were on at the time.

Please note:

We do not have to prove why you were banned such as hacks thru screenshots, evidence, or demos. Our admin are trusted, and we feel they are fair when deciding if to ban. We do not require them to show proof, as most of the time it shows nothing. Proving someone is hacking is practically impossible since we can not see what is running on your machine. Therefor we must use our best judgement when banning. It may not be perfect, and mistakes will be made.

Your attitude on the forums may also decide if you get unbanned. So remember that before insulting any admin or how we run our server. Coming here to flame/cry/whine about being banned will only result in being banned from the site as well.

Come to us in a respectable manner and we will show the same courtesy.

Feel free to PM myself(Sonofsam) with any problems you feel uncomfortable posting. I reserve the right to have final say in all bannings.

Where are the servers located?
The Gungame servers are located in the Chicago area. However, many of the members of GG are not. We are mainly central United States, and lower Canada.

Does GG have stats for the servers?
HLStatsX is running for the Reversed Gungame server which is generated in real time. Stats can be found: HERE

How do I report a cheater?
As we take cheating/hacking serious, we also tend to be cautious about banning. However if you feel without a doubt that a player is hacking here are some steps:

1. First try to find an admin on the forums/IRC/MSN/AIM so they can spectate and make the call.

2. If no admin are available, please provide us with some information so we may look into it.

- Game alias (cs:s name):
- Steam ID
- Demo/Screenshots
- Time of incident

If you do not know how to record demos, or obtain Steam Ids, this will help you.

Demo: Open console and type record when you are finished recording type stop. Demos are located in the c:/Program Files/Steam/Steam Apps//Cstrike folder.

Steam ID: Open console and type status, steamid will be located next to the players name.

False Accusations in order to get a player banned for other reasons other then Cheating/Hacking may result in being banned yourself. Please do not waste our time unless you are reporting a legit problem.

How do I request a map for the server?
If you feel you know of a decent map, that deserves to be places on the servers. Please feel free to post it here on our forums: Here

Be sure to include the full name of the map, and if possible an URL where the map can be download. If not, please attach map to your post. Doing so will speed up the process.
